HI Opens Registration for 2012 Fall Meeting

The Hydraulic Institute (HI) announced that the annual HI Fall Meeting will take place October 23 – 27, 2012, at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. Registration is now open to HI Members, Associate Members, Standards Partners, and Utilities, Energy Efficiency NGOs who are sponsors of Pump Systems Matter.

Eligible prospective members are welcome to attend with advance approval. Registration can be completed at www.Pumps.org/12Fall.

This year’s Fall meeting will focus on pump system optimization, pump efficiency rule-making, pump testing and certification programs, international trade updates, standards development, and the use of social media in the pump industry. Special presentations on these subjects will be delivered by topic experts and include:

  • Corporate Leadership in Pump System Optimization–Strengthening HI’s Advocacy with the DOE with Robert Asdal, HI/PSM Executive Director & Jim Swetye, Chairman, HI/PSM Educational Affairs Steering Committee, & e-Business Training Manager, Pentair Water
  • Testing & Certification of Laboratories & Equipment: What Other Associations Do–Implications for HI, a panel presentation moderated by Mick Cropper, Director, Product Development, Sulzer Pumps (US) Inc.; Chair, HI Technical Affairs Steering Committee (TASC)
  • International Trade Update with Eric McClafferty, Partner, Kelley Drye & Warren and Legal Counsel to HI/VMA International Trade Task Force (ITTF)
  • Membership Update on Pump Efficiency Rule-Making Panel discussion provided by HI members
  • How to Grow Your Business with Social Media with David Deutsch, Chief Strategist, SynergiSocial
  • All CEO attendees are invited to the bi-annual “CEO Roundtable” event that will feature group discussions on topics of common interest including: how to deal with the challenges of recruiting engineers, managing remote employees, and retaining knowledge as baby-boomers retire.

Nearly thirty HI Technical Committees will meet to review and advance specific areas of knowledge and work that ultimately will result in the development of new or updated ANSI/HI Pump Standards. Attendees with particular topic interest or subject matter expertise will have the opportunity to participate in these technical meetings. Young engineers are particularly encouraged to attend.

To encourage meeting attendance by “Young Engineers,” HI is offering a 50% discount on registration to individuals at member companies who are under the age of thirty-five and have served less than 10 years in the pump industry. HI is also offering a group discount, as well as an Early Bird discount to individuals who register on or before September 14, 2012.
