Georg Fischer Strengthens Position in Canada

16.05.2008

Georg Fischer acquires the business activities of Alfa Plastics Inc. in Brampton (Toronto), Ontario.

The company is a specialized distributor of plastic pipes, fittings and valves for water treatment, chemical processes and other industrial applications with annual sales of about CHF 4.5 million and 20 employees. Alfa Plastics has worked together with GF Piping Systems for the past 20 years and is currently an important distribution partner in Canada.

The company will be renamed Georg Fischer Piping Systems Ltd. and will be responsible for managing the Piping Systems activities in Canada. The new company is expected to be transformed from its present business as a distributor to a wholly owned sales, service and stocking point for Canadian customers. In addition it will be used as a platform to provide current Canadian utility distributors with enhanced service and support on products from the recently acquired Central Plastics Company in Oklahoma, the leader in piping systems for gas and water distribution in North America. The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2008.
