Finish Thompson Highlights VKC Series Vertical Pump Solutions

27.10.2025
Finish Thompson Inc. (FTI) highlights the VKC Series vertical pumps for chemical processing and industrial fluid handling applications. The VKC Series integrates a sealless mag-drive vertical design with an airtight column, helping to prevent shaft and motor corrosion while reducing environmental emissions and fugitive leaks. The magnetic drive eliminates the need for wetted shaft bearings, enhancing reliability and minimizing maintenance costs.

VKC Series pumps are manufactured from durable polypropylene or PVDF, with construction flexibility supported by carbon, PTFE, or ceramic bushing options. The single impeller design eliminates microbubbles and prevents aeration, while the absence of a back impeller further reduces maintenance and wear. Multiple impeller diameters and column lengths offer enhanced hydraulic selection and application flexibility, with modular column construction available in 6-inch (15 cm) increments from 12 inches (30 cm) up to 60 inches (152 cm) to support application requirements. The series features seven models, including the VKC5.5, VKC6, VKC6H, VKC7, VKC8, VKC10, and MSVKC.

Mounting versatility allows the pump to be easily installed inside or outside of the tank (when attached to a mounting plate). The pump’s vertical column is completely sealed and airtight, and motors are mounted to the plate, drilled for a standard C-faced motor. This design eliminates the requirement for pump/motor alignment, offering a simpler and more reliable installation.

FKM or EPDM O-ring options provide chemical compatibility, while hardware choices, including titanium, Hastelloy® C, or PVDF, address diverse operating demands. Standard NPT or BSP threaded connections, along with global NEMA or IEC motor compatibility, make VKC Series pumps suitable for use anywhere in the world. The pump series is CE, UKCA, and EAC certified.

The VKC Series delivers maximum working pressures up to 60 psi (4.1 bar), maximum temperatures of 140°F (60°C), flow rates up to 69 gallons per minute (15.7 m³/hr), heads up to 99 feet (30.2 meters), and can handle fluids with specific gravities over 1.8. The closed column reduces both motor and pump maintenance, while the liquid end can be removed without removing the complete column from the motor to streamline repairs and reduce downtime.

Applications for the VKC Series span chemical processing, filtration, and sumps, serving key industries such as biofiltration and odor control, chemical manufacturing, electroplating, and fume scrubbers.
