Background

Located in the northeast of Miyagi prefecture, the Nakatsuyama district is one of the primary agricultural areas in the prefecture, where rice is mainly produced. Wheat and soybeans etc. are also produced by using paddy fields. In this area, flood damage from heavy rain increased because the area is surrounded by dikes (to protect villages and cultivated fields from flood damage) between the Kitakami River and the Kyu Kitakami River, and the discharge capacity is insufficient due to deteriorated drainage facilities. In addition, reducing the costs involved in operating and maintaining the old facilities was also a problem.

Overview

Ebara has installed the following horizontal-shaft mixed flow pump this time: two pumps with a diameter of 2,000 mm, one pump with a diameter of 1,500 mm, and one pump with a diameter of 900 mm. They also contribute to the reduction of operating and maintenance costs through the enhanced efficiency of the pumps and engines to realize energy savings.

Future plan

By summing up of Tsuruga Drainage Pump Station and Ushiroyachi Drainage Pump Station (completed in September 2016; the planning discharge volume of four pumps : 20 m³/s), the discharge of this region is now 1.8 times greater than the conventional capacity. Ebara will continue to contribute to regional development by providing products and service to support drainage and other infrastructure worldwide.
