Bell & Gossett® Introduces New Glycol Solution / Water Make up Unit

02.12.2004

A versatile, new glycol make-up unit (GMU) from the Bell & Gossett Packaged Systems Group is now available. The unit is designed for glycol solution applications such as closed loop heating, chilled water, process systems, snowmelt and radiant heat.

The unit is also ideal for use as a break tank for potable water systems with an optional fill valve and is completely automatic to maintain minimum system pressure levels. The GMU features a standard low-level alarm contact to stop the pump during low-level condition along with a pressure control device to provide protection from excessive pressure.

The Bell & Gossett GMU utilizes a Bell & Gossett pump, a Triple Duty® Valve, and a McDonnell & Miller RB-122 low water cut off switch. The GMU comes with a 55-gallon polyethylene tank and measurement scales in both gallons and liters for easy mixing of solutions. The standard unit is designed to provide 10 gallons per minute at 30 psi. A high pressure system is also available that provides 5 gallons per minute at 60 psi.

The system allows for ease of use with a pressure switch to control the addition of glycol solution and a Y-strainer to eliminate debris from entering the system. For even greater flexibility, the pressure reducing valve is not supplied on the glycol solution package, allowing the contractor to select the most suitable valve for installation.

A control panel on the GMU features a green light for "Power On", and a red "Low Level" light and remote contact for low level alarm. Custom offerings for the product include a duplex configuration, a 100-gallon tank and 3-phase input power.
