15 Years GF Clean Water Foundation
The Clean Water Foundation was founded by GF in 2002 to mark the company’s 200th anniversary. In the last 15 years, GF has invested more than CHF 10 million in the foundation. So far about 130 projects helped to improve access to clean drinking water for some 300‘000 people around the globe.
“The supply of clean, potable water is one of the major global challenges. As a specialist in water networks, we understand how important clean water is,” says Yves Serra, CEO of GF and President of the Clean Water Foundation’s board of trustees. “That is why we are so pleased to work with experienced partners to help people around the world receive better access to drinking water.”
GF supports the foundation with a significant financial donation every year and has funded some 130 projects through the foundation to date. Rural communities where the state has little to no presence are the primary target of the foundation’s support. As the communities themselves are unable to finance major infrastructure projects, the support in the area of drinking water supplies makes a huge contribution to improving people’s standard of living.
Since 2012, the foundation has mainly cooperated with the organization Caritas Switzerland which is responsible for realizing around half of all Clean Water projects. Currently the foundation supports projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America. New projects in Malawi, Uganda and Myanmar have been approved for this year.
New board of trustees
Two new members have joined President Yves Serra on the foundation’s board of trustees: Andreas Müller, CFO, and Joost Geginat, Head of GF Piping Systems. They replace Roland Abt and Pietro Lori, who have both retired.
