Xylem Academy to Support European Water Academy from 2027
Following the launch of the European Water Academy (EUWA), led by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), Xylem announced a commitment to provide quarterly training programs throughout 2027 in support of the initiative, delivered through its new Xylem Academy. The EUWA is a flagship action of the EU Water Resilience Strategy, designed to strengthen expertise, support technology transfer and help build a more resilient and competitive European water sector.
Europe’s water sector is facing growing pressure as infrastructure ages and systems become more complex. Utilities and industry are also being asked to adopt new technologies, improve water efficiency, and maintain reliable operations in the face of extreme weather. Building the capability to put those technologies into practice will be essential to delivering Europe’s water ambitions.
“Europe’s water resilience depends on the people who operate, maintain and improve critical water systems every day,” said Hayati Yarkadas, EVP and President, Water Infrastructure at Xylem. “The challenge is not whether solutions exist, but how quickly we can equip utilities and industries to implement them at scale. With the Xylem Academy, we want to make that knowledge more accessible and help our partners prepare for the future of a resilient Europe.”
The new Xylem Academy is a comprehensive education program for employees, customers and channel partners, designed to support the adoption of new technologies and best practices, build future-ready capabilities and prepare the workforce for the evolving needs of the sector.
The program is backed by a growing network of water infrastructure training centers across Europe. Centers are already operating at Xylem facilities in Langenhagen, Germany, Madrid, Spain, Dordrecht, Netherlands, and Montecchio, Italy, with further locations planned across Europe in 2027. The centers provide dedicated spaces for learning and collaboration, including hands-on opportunities for participants to engage directly with Xylem technologies and explore their application in the field.
“Europe has set an ambitious agenda for water resilience, but the next challenge is turning that ambition into results on the ground,” said Tania Pentcheva, Director, Europe Government and Industry Relations, Xylem. “What matters now is helping utilities build the capability to keep water services running through extreme weather, address leakage, integrate digital and AI tools into complex systems, and adopt water reuse as part of their operations. Our contribution to the European Water Academy is one practical way Xylem can help close that gap."
