Torishima Receives Orders for Hotwell Pumps
Torishima Pump Mfg. Co., Ltd. has received orders for 2 units of hotwell pump for Germencik geothermal power plant unit No.2 from Gurmat Elektrik Uretim A.S., an Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Turkey.
This plant is the largest georhermal power plant in the country with the capacity of 47.7MW, located in Izmir city in the west of Turkey.
The latest order came to following a case in which Torishima had delivered hot well pumps in 2007 for Germencik geothermal power Plant unit No.1. Torishima believes that the high technical capability and reliability of preciously delivered pumps resulted in the new order.
Securing stable power supply has become a major issue in Turkey as its economy has been rapidly growing. Under such a circumstance, the Turkish government recognizes the country’s abundant geothermal energy as the precious resource to meet the increasing energy needs.
As well as wind power and solar power, geothermal generation is renewable energy which emits less carbon dioxide and contributes to environmental conservation. Germencik geothermal power plant is scheduled to start its commercial operation in 2015.
