... operators of pulp & paper mills and power generation plants as well as for customers in the water treatment & distribution, food, metals and fertilizer businesses. State-of-the-art manufacturing facilities are located on all continents with sales offices, service centers and representatives in more than 150 countries around the globe.

Strong R&D Effort

Sulzer Pumps places great emphasis on research and development. It starts with basic research, where the focus is on hydraulics, cavitation, erosion, corrosion and mechanical design (particularly rotor-dynamic design). Basic research advances are then applied to product development, where engineers work closely with customers all over the world on the practical implementation of innovative ideas. At any point, they can call upon the diverse expertise of the many research specialists working in pumping laboratories.

Pump Testing - Unique Capabilities

Sulzer operates over 20 test facilities worldwide. The facilities are suitable for horizontal, vertical, open pit, high flow rate/high energy and multiphase testing. Sulzer Pumps can perform tests at 50 and 60 Hz and, depending on the site, are able to operate using diesel engines, gas engines and gas turbines in addition to conventional electric motors.

Continuing Leadership in Technology and Products

Sulzer Pumps has always been acknowledged throughout the industry as having class leading technology and product lines. This reputation has been earned over the years through the continuous development of both existing and new pump ranges.

The center of any refinery or chemical process plant is the end suction process pump. Taking the best features of two existing ranges, the Z and CAP, Sulzer Pumps developed the OHH range as the core of its global product strategy. Successfully introduced on the back of API610 9th edition, the OHH has performed strongly in both 50Hz and 60Hz markets with thousands of units now in operation.

Using the hydraulic components of the OHH, a number of variants were introduced. The OHC uses a canned motor and the OHM has a magnetic drive. Both units offer alternative solutions to the growing need for 100% leak free pumps with the added security of being built to refinery industry standards.

Because of space constraints or operator preference, many applications require vertical process pumps. To fill this need the standard OHH hydraulic was again adapted for vertical configuration. The OHV allows seal or bearing changes without removal of the drive motor making for quick and simple maintenance.

The latest edition to the OH family is the OHHL. Many processes require relatively high heads to be generated but at low flow rates. In the past this was achieved by either a bypass system or simply running the pump back on its curve. Neither of these solutions are satisfactory, the former being wasteful, the latter risking poor performance and reduced reliability. The solution was the development of a completely new hydraulic specifically for low flow operation. The OHHL uses common bearing assemblies with the OHH and has been designed to compliment the OHH range creating a seamless performance extension at low flow rates. The OHH, OHM, OHC, OHV and OHHL represent the most modern and integrated range of heavy duty process pumps in the market today.

All new products will be featured at the Sulzer Pumps stand Hall 8, U13 - V16 at ACHEMA 2006 – why not come along and see why Sulzer Pumps should be The Heart of Your Process.

VDMA: Process Technology Providers Hold Their Own in a Difficult Environment

10.06.2024 -

The decarbonisation of industry is one of the biggest challenges facing Germany as a business location in the coming years. The mechanical and plant engineering sector will play a key role as an important solution provider. This is because applications in process technology are particularly in demand to produce the required green hydrogen. Many related suppliers are gathering this week at the world’s leading trade fair for the process industry, ACHEMA 2024, in Frankfurt am Main.
