Ruhrpumpen Opens New Reciprocating Plunger Pump Sales Office, Design Centre, Assembly and State-of-the-art Testing Facility in the United Kingdom
Ruhrpumpen has opened its new sales office, design centre, assembly and pump testing facility in Lancing, United Kingdom, which along with an expanded design team will enable the company to fulfil its increasing order book for its reciprocating plunger pumps.
New reciprocating plunger pump test rig at Ruhrpumpen, United Kingdom (Ruhrpumpen)
Last year, Ruhrpumpen started a major investment in a new facility to bring the assembly and testing of its reciprocating plunger pumps together with the existing design team. The company already has its own foundry and global manufacturing facilities, including Witten, Germany, that will supply the facility in the United Kingdom in addition to a well-established supply chain in Europe that will continue to provide ancillary equipment such as high-quality seal systems and motors.
The new building in Lancing, United Kingdom, provides offices and manufacturing space for the expanding team of engineers designing its range of RDP API 674 3rd edition, ISO 13710 triplex and quintuplex pumps. The adjoining assembly facility is laid out on a work-cell principle ensuring the company’s engineered solutions can be scheduled and managed to meet customer deadlines in a modern, clean and safe environment.
In collaboration with Siemens Process Industries, a new comprehensive ‘State-of-the-Art’ test rig can handle flows of up to 400m3/hr with the facility for testing two packaged systems at any one time. Pumps can be switched in and out quickly and efficiently to save idle test time and increase throughput. The test rig has partial automation with flow and pressure ranges controlled by variable speed drives. All performance parameters such as flow, pressure, vibration and temperature are data logged with programmable logic controllers and graphic interfaces. The rig also has full capability to carry out testing in accordance with API and Hydraulic Institute standards together with remote testing via video links.
Simon Watteau, Managing Director of the Ruhrpumpen Reciprocating Plunger Pumps business commented: “This new state-of-the-art design centre, assembly and test facility reflects our continued drive to engineer solutions that deliver against our customers most challenges duties and which can be delivered within their project deadlines. The layout of the assembly area leading to the semi-automated test facility ensures that we have the capacity to undertake a significant increase in orders without any impact on delivery times. This investment reflects our confidence in the market for our reciprocating plunger pumps in the years to come.”
