Pia Aaltonen-Forsell to Start as Valmet’s CFO on November 1, 2026

Valmet has appointed Max Luedtke as Executive Vice President, Pulp, Energy and Circularity business area and a member of Valmet’s Executive Leadership Team. He will start in his position on September 1, 2026, and will be based in Tikkurila, Vantaa, Finland.

Valmet has appointed Pia Aaltonen-Forsell (M. Soc.Sc. (Econ.), MBA) Chief Financial Officer and member of the Valmet Executive Leadership Team. In this position Aaltonen-Forsell will report to the President and CEO Thomas Hinnerskov and she will start in the position at the latest at the end of January 2027.

Sami Riekkola, Executive Vice President, Pulp, Energy and Circularity business area, and a member of Valmet’s Executive Leadership Team, has decided to leave Valmet to pursue an opportunity outside of Valmet. His last day at Valmet will be January 22, 2027, at the latest. The recruitment process for his successor will be initiated immediately.

Valmet is strengthening its flow control capabilities in Australia with the inauguration of a new service center and a manufacturing unit in Sydney. The new facility enhances the availability of mission-critical flow control solutions and services for customers in process industries across the region, with a particular focus on Australia’s pulp, paper, mining and metals, refining, chemicals, and renewable energy sectors.

Valmet’s Chief Financial Officer Katri Hokkanen has decided to leave the company to pursue an opportunity outside of Valmet. She will continue in her current position to lead Finance and be an active member of Valmet’s Executive Leadership team until the end of September 2026 to ensure an orderly and seamless transition.

Valmet is planning changes to its manufacturing in Sweden and Poland and has initiated change negotiations in its Global Supply unit concerning the planned closure of manufacturing at its Sundsvall site in Sweden. In addition, Valmet starts negotiations about proposed changes to its Global Supply unit’s operations in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Jelenia Góra, Poland.
