29.10.2001

ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Pentair (NYSE: PNR) announced today that Michael V. Schrock, 48, formerly president of Pentair Water Technologies -- Americas, has been named president and chief operating officer of the company's Enclosures segment effective immediately. Schrock succeeds George M. Danko, who is leaving the company to pursue other business interests.

Schrock joined Pentair in March 1998 as vice president and general manager for the Aurora and Fairbanks Morse pump brands and facilities; he also held international sales responsibility for the entire Pentair Pump Group. In 1998, he was named President of the Pentair Pump Group, and in 2001, was named president of Pentair Water Technologies -- Americas. Prior to joining Pentair, Schrock was employed by Honeywell for 21 years, during which he had responsibility for businesses in Western Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as in North America.

"Mike successfully led the integration of the General Signal Pump Group acquisition and extracted some $15 million in costs from that business in the first 18 months of Pentair's ownership," said Randall J. Hogan, Pentair president and CEO. "Mike also demonstrated strong leadership during the integration of the Essef businesses and the growth of the pool and spa equipment business.

"Mike's proven management abilities, his success in installing lean enterprise concepts throughout the Water business, and his broad international experience will give him a significant edge as he works to respond to the weak U.S. and international enclosure markets, while positioning the Enclosures Group to be ready when the market recovers," Hogan added.

Pentair's Enclosures segment is a manufacturer of highly engineered, technically advanced systems designed to house and protect sophisticated electronics. A leading global supplier of enclosures and enclosure systems serving industrial, networking, telecom, and datacom markets, the Enclosures segment comprises Hoffman Enclosures, Pentair Electronic Packaging, Pentair Enclosures Europe, and Pentair Enclosures Asia.

Pentair, headquartered in St. Paul, produces a wide range of tools under several well-known brand names, including Porter-Cable, Delta, and Ex-Cell. In addition to tools, the company's core businesses include water technologies including water pumps, water treatment products, and pool and spa equipment and enclosures, which house and protect delicate electronic and computer technologies. Pentair employs 12,500 people in more than 50 locations around the world.
