KSB Receives 50 Million Euro Order

14.10.2009

KSB received an order for boiler feed and reactor coolant pumps worth around € 50 million. The pumps will be installed in two new nuclear power station units to be built on the southern Chinese island of Hainan.

All of the 16 pumps included in the order will be manufactured in Germany until the end of 2012, following which the reactor coolant pumps will be fitted with additional technical components and tested in Shanghai.

In the next twelve years, China is planning to build around 60 new nuclear power plants. These will be equipped with pumps and valves capable of meeting the most stringent safety requirements. In order to participate in this market, KSB established a joint venture by the name of SEC-KSB Nuclear Pumps & Valves Co., Ltd in mid-2008. The joint venture is currently having a production facility with a test field built on a 28,000 square metre site in Lingang near Shanghai. Probably from the end of 2010, 125 employees will initially build and test pumps for use in Chinese nuclear power stations, later to be followed by a range of valves.
