ITT Industries Launches Aquious Brand

This new brand will envelope ITT Industries' existing membrane filtration products to provide its customers with a broad and innovative range of filtration process systems and products to serve the desalination, surface water treatment, water reuse and industrial process separation markets.

Aquious is currently operating with sales/applications offices and manufacturing centers in North America, Europe and Asia. Robert L. Aquious works closely with ITT's other Advanced Water Treatment businesses -- Sanitaire, leaders in biological wastewater treatment, and WEDECO, expert providers of UV and ozone systems for water and wastewater treatment – to meet the rigorous quality and performance demands of its commercial, industrial and municipal customers. This partnership drives accelerated progress in water treatment applications, and reinforces ITT's position as a premier global provider of advanced water treatment solutions.

ITT's current project activity in the water, wastewater and process industries includes:

• Completion of one of the largest industrial process water membrane installations in China for Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation. Aquious designed, manufactured and commissioned the 36,000 m3/day plant in less than nine months. Process treatment included two stage media pre-filtration, reverse osmosis and electro-deionization for final water polishing.
• Major projects for the supply of drinking and process water in the Middle East. These projects reinforce Aquious' position as a leading supplier to the membrane desalination market.
• Supply of 12 Fyne(R) package membrane water treatment units to Scottish Water in the United Kingdom for removal of natural organic material from surface water sources, providing drinking water which exceeds quality standards for disinfection by-products. Aquious will also supply additional Fyne(R) treatment units to remote communities in Canada and Alaska during 2004.
• Aquious has launched an advanced membrane bioreactor (MBR) solution for industrial wastewater treatment issues. The Aquious industrial Dual Stage MBR combines optimized biological treatment performance, with high-integrity reinforced hollow-fibre membranes. This combination offers exceptional treated water quality with low operating costs. Aquious is currently piloting the Dual Stage MBR for industrial wastewater treatment and reuse applications with a major beverage industry customer in the United Kingdom, and with a transport industry customer in the United States.
