Higher Standards in the Pump Industry

David Brown Union Pumps Company, part of Textron Fluid and Power’s Hydrocarbon Processing Products, has reduced lead-times in the manufacturing process of their spare parts, and is guaranteeing on-time delivery of orders—a program that is unmatched in the pump industry.

David Brown Union Pumps Company is committed to delivering customers’ orders on-time. The company has drastically reduced manufacturing and administrative lead-times, and has started a new program that allows customers to take advantage of free delivery or other special incentives if their spare parts aren’t delivered when promised to ensure total customer satisfaction. The Battle Creek, MI based company understands that customers’ operations rely on having fast and reliable access to original OEM spare parts when they need them.

"We are dedicated to exceeding our commitments, and to provide our customers performance-based guarantees," said Rudy Esteves, vice president and general manager for Textron Fluid and Power, Hydrocarbon Processing Products. "Customers value our OEM spares over replicas and we realize the importance of on-time delivery of the original product. We want our customers to receive our high quality equipment and parts when they need it–this is one aspect of the assurance we can bring as a global OEM. Part replicators may not always offer on-time delivery or comparable quality."

“We want to ensure the reliability of our customers’ pump operation without compromising quality, and we will guarantee it,” said Hani Fayed, global after-market director. Customer demands have prompted changes in the way David Brown Union Pumps Company processes inquiries, orders, and manufacturing of spare parts. We took an “in-depth” look at our systems and benchmarked standard lead-times and deliveries against the best in the industry. We were able to make changes in processes that basically allow us to reduce lead-times in manufacturing and speed up delivery of spares by using Textron Six Sigma processes and methodologies that in the end benefit our customers.”

The company has already implemented changes internally and plans on promoting the new program in North America first and then rolling it out globally. A massive marketing campaign to announce the program is currently underway to notify customers of the new program. Industry leading companies in the oil, gas, petrochemical, chemical, nuclear, power, and desalination markets can expect to receive direct mail announcing the program and the locations where the offer is currently valid. Customers will be able to work directly with experienced parts specialists to manage ordering and delivery of their spare parts. Parts specialists will also be able to validate the new guarantee policy through various incentives if the company does not deliver when promised.
