Easy-to-maintain Pumps for Hygienic Applications

15.07.2005

An outstanding range of easy-to-maintain centrifugal pumps, ideal for transferring liquids in dairy, food, beverage, pharmaceutical and other similar process applications, is available from PUMP ENGINEERING LTD.

CSF-CS and CSA pumps can handle capacities from 1 to 570 m3/hour with heads up to 100 metres, temperatures up to 185°C and viscosities up to 800cP, while offering low NPSHr and high efficiency.

These high quality, yet competitively priced pumps are manufactured in investment cast AISI 316L stainless steel for all wetted parts, with a 6 vane open impeller enabling the handling of liquids containing particles or small solids. The pumps have been specifically designed for hygienic processes and clean-in-place (CIP) with the elimination of “dead” areas.

Key features include a pump shaft which is supported by its own bearing providing both added strength and allowing for the for IEC standard motor to be removed without “wet-end” disassembly This, and the quick release clamp on the product casing allows for rapid servicing with minimum downtime.

CSF CS and CSA pumps are available with a range of ECA compliant ‘intelligent inverter’ flow control options (specifically designed for centrifugal pumps) and depending on the application, either an internal or external single mechanical seal, internal re-circulating or flushed double mechanical seal can be fitted. This enables the pumping of high-temperature liquids or those with a tendency to crystallise. Elastomers are available in a choice of Viton, EPDM, silicon or PTFE.

Applications include transfer of milk, oils, beverages, fruit juices, water for injection, CIP, cellular suspensions, sugar solutions, yeast and melted butter.
