In looking for ways to optimize the scale-to-scale time of its delivery fleet, Peter Cremer turned to Blackmer and its energy efficient line of sliding vane pumps, which have been designed with the robust operation and chemical-handling capability that is necessary for liquid-terminal operations.

Many liquid-terminals can be adversely affected by slow scale-to-scale times, namely the amount of time it takes for a transport truck or railcar to enter a facility and get loaded or unloaded before it departs. Since Peter Cremer began utilizing Blackmer sliding vane pumps for its loading and unloading operations, their scale-to-scale time is at an optimum level.

“Scale in to scale out with a Blackmer pump for a truck with 6,000 gallons is 20 to 25 minutes,” said Mike Doll, Facility Manager at Peter Cremer North America. “That’s awesome. For me, Blackmer is the best pump. I wish everything else ran as good as Blackmer.”

Blackmer sliding vane pumps are able to offer the scale-to-scale efficiencies that terminal operators like Peter Cremer seek because they have been designed to run dry for short periods and have self-priming and line-stripping capabilities. Blackmer sliding vane pumps are also easy to maintain since the vanes can be replaced without removing the pump from the piping system.
