The new, in-house designed 5.5 kW scroll element allows for a new 6 kW model as well as 10 bar variants throughout the range.

The SF series of oil-free scroll compressors have always been renowned for their silent operation and compactness, making it the ideal compressor for laboratories, printing, the dairy industry and other applications that require a silent, oil-free air compressor. For the first time, Atlas Copco also introduces a SF+ series, which is equipped with Elektronikon Mk. 5, the newest compressor controller. “Our customers and OEMs demand a reliable, silent and compact oil-free air compressor and the new SF delivers exactly that,” explains Bert Derom, Vice-President Marketing, “Moreover, with new IE3 motors and the new SF+ range, we also improve their energy-efficiency.”

New core components

The SF now houses an IE3 Premium Efficiency motor with IP55 class F insulation, suitable for harsh conditions. Atlas Copco also introduced a new 5.5 kW scroll element, an in-house design, that allows the range to be expanded with a 6 kW model and 8 as well as 10 bar variants on the whole range. Thanks to the new scroll element, some models will be even more compact.

Multiple compressors in one

The modular design of the SF+ Multi allows for flexibility in air demand and energy savings. The multi scroll units, starting from 8 kW, can operate their scrolls in various set-ups, matching the capacity to the air demand. This “Variable Flow Technology” system in the Elektronikon automatically starts and stops the optimal number of scrolls. On top of the remote monitoring possibilities, the Elektronikon Mk.5 also allows the user to follow the status of every scroll element individually.

Cool canopy design

With the new canopy design for SF Mono, Atlas Copco also introduces the “cool canopy”. More breathing space for the core components ensures optimal ventilation, cooling flow and lower element and outlet temperatures. The “cool canopy”’ contributes to the compressor’s lifetime and serviceability. Moreover, the new SF range comes with a wide range of options for vessels and air treatment.
