Both labs perform hydrostatic testing at pressures from 250 to 1,500 psi, as well as mechanical run and vibration testing. Vibration values can be measured in three planes in inches per second RMS or millimeters per second RMS when the pump is tested as a unit with the job motor. Mechanical run testing is dependent on pump size and power rating.
The Lubbock test lab also supports reverse-flow testing and performance testing with flow capacity up to 10,575 gallons per minute through its 12-inch line. The lab can test pressures up to 740 psi and pump bowl sizes up to 24 inches. Available lab drivers support a range of horsepower and speeds, while customer motors up to 300 horsepower at 460 volts can be accommodated.
NPC’s Glendale test lab offers additional NPSH testing, providing support for applications where suction conditions are a critical consideration. The facility, using magnetic flow meters, can test flows up to 20,000 gallons per minute through its 20-inch line. Additionally, pressures up to 740 psi and bowl sizes up to 32 inches can be accommodated.
The Glendale lab supports lab drivers from 25 to 450 horsepower across multiple speeds, along with customer motors up to 600 horsepower at 460 volts and up to 1,000 horsepower at 4,160 volts. Variable frequency drive capability is available up to 550 horsepower at 460 volts. A 7.5-ton bridge crane supports pump handling, and the facility can accommodate longer pumps through sectional assembly over the test pit when needed. Glendale also offers virtual witnessing capabilities for all pump tests.
Together, NPC’s test lab capabilities provide customers with resources for performance testing, mechanical evaluation and verification across a broad range of pump sizes, flow requirements and power configurations.
