Eaton Appoints William B. Doggett Vice President, Public and Community Affairs

16.05.2003

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN) announced that William B. (Barry) Doggett has been appointed vice president, public and community affairs, effective June 2, 2003.

Doggett will be located at the company's headquarters here, with responsibility for Eaton's federal, state and local government relations, as well as the company's charitable and community relations initiatives.

Doggett will be succeeding James L. Mason, who will remain with Eaton as vice president, community initiatives, until his retirement in 2004. During this period, Mason and Doggett will work together to ensure a seamless transition. Mason will continue to support Eaton chairman and chief executive officer Alexander M. Cutler on community projects in Cleveland, including the 2003 Greater Cleveland United Way campaign, which Cutler chairs.

"Eaton places a high value on being a responsible corporate citizen," said Cutler. "We are committed to employee volunteerism and to supporting the communities in which we do business. We also believe in the importance of business-government dialogue on issues of mutual concern. I personally appreciate Jim's leadership for the past 27 years in these areas, and his continued involvement on behalf of Eaton in the 2003 Greater Cleveland United Way campaign and other community initiatives. Barry's experience in the public and private sectors is very well suited to help us continue to achieve our goals in these key areas."

Doggett joins Eaton from Cleveland Tomorrow, an economic development organization, where he served as deputy director since 1996. Prior to that, he held a series of government affairs, communications and operations management positions with BP America (formerly Standard Oil Company) and British Petroleum.

Doggett has an M.B.A. in banking and finance from Case Western Reserve University and an undergraduate degree in economics from Middlebury College.
