Wilo is continuing to expand its location at Dortmund-Hörde with the new electronics competence centre for the entire company group. After 15 months of construction activity, the pump manufacturer has now put its new production hall for electronic components into service.

With the new high efficiency pump from Wilo-Stratos the Wilo company presents the first wet-running pump with an integral regulator, which is also suitable for use in air-conditioning and cooling systems.

Wilo has now developed an inexpensive heating pump especially for use in houses accommodating one or two families. The small EasyStar automatically regulates its output in accordance with actual demand, thanks to the electronic control device incorporated in the system.

At IFAT 2002, in May, ITT Flygt has presented its new product identity. All pumps and mixers have now a uniform identity so they look like they belong to the same family, and at the same time they will have a unique identity, differentiating them from competitors.

Danish scientist Professor Deng Ole Sigmund, has been awarded the DKK1m Grundfos Prize 2002 for his groundbreaking research in the form and topology optimisation of mechanical systems.

In a strategic co-operation with the engineering firm of Haldor Topsøe, Grundfos is developing equipment for the cleaning of heavily polluted exhaust from diesel-driven vehicles such as trucks, busses and vans. By entering this co-operation Grundfos is moving into a completely new market.

On 1 May 2002, the Grundfos group took over the activities of the Swiss company Arnold AG, specialists in submersible mixers, flowmakers and recirculation pumps, which is based in Schachen in the canton of Lucerne, 70 km from Zurich.

Interim report as per 31 March 2002: In the first quarter of 2002, the pumps and valves market continued to be shaped by the weakness of demand in important sectors and considerable pressure on prices.

At IFAT 2002, to be held in Munich from 13 to 18 May, KSB Fluid Systems GmbH, Frankenthal, will present a completely new type of drainage station. Its defining characteristic is the fully integrated design, with the discharge line, check valve and pump house forming a single unit. Thanks to the new design, tubular casing pumps no longer need an discharge elbow. This significantly reduces the head losses otherwise incurred.
