As the Lake County, Illinois area continues its rapid growth, the public works department found itself faced with a challenge. The Milwaukee Ave/Route 21 lift station originally installed in 1987, needed to be upgraded from its present capacity of 2100 GPM, or 3 MGD, to handle an ultimate flow of 8 MGD without interrupting service.

December 2000, KSB Aktiengesellschaft, Germany, launched a submersible motor pump series developed for use in water supply and irrigation systems. All five sizes of the S100B series are of a very robust design and capable of handling water with a solids content of 50 grams per cubic metre.

The recently developed high pressure series M 800 reaches pressures of up to 800 bar using a PTFE sandwich diaphragm and opens up new application fields for hermetically tight, leakage-free diaphragm pumps.
