COLLEGE STATION,TEXAS – the Turbomachinery Laboratory at Texas A&M University is pleased to announce that the 18th International Pump Users Symposium and Short Courses will be held March 5-8, 2001, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. This meeting is organized and is led by engineers with vast experience in the petrochemical, process, chemical, utility, contractor, and consulting fields, along with pump and seal manufacturers from around the world.

Participating were about 100 representatives of some of the world’s leading water-supply and wastewater companies as well as institutions and individuals working with water and wastewater on a global level.

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS, October 31, 2000 – During the recent WEFTEC 2000 trade show in Anaheim, Fairbanks Morse presented a new alternative in submersible pumps – the submersible vortex – currently available in cast iron construction. This unique design is capable of handling heavier concentrations of stringy, fibrous material, which are not suitable for conventional solids-handling pumps.

ASHLAND, OHIO, September 29, 2000 — Hydromatic Pump Company represents one of the most diversified lines of wastewater pumping products in the industry. At the WEFTEC 2000 show, Hydromatic will introduce the new 4″ and 6″ self primer models which have been added to their existing line of self primers and the new 2 HP positive displacement grinder pump designed for high head, low flow applications without the need for a control panel.

The Hydraulic Institute announces plans to join EUROPUMP as a co-sponsor of the Pump Users International Forum 2000, to be held October 10 – 12, 2000, in Karlsruhe, Germany. Organized by the German Pump Manufacturers Association, the program for Forum 2000 will focus on the four essential elements of life cycle cost: investment, energy, maintenance and reliability. A presentation of the HI/EUROPUMP User Guidelines on Life Cycle Costs (LCC) will be part of the agenda.

On Monday, ACHEMA 2000, the international Exhibition Congress for chemical engineering, environmental protection, and biotechnology, opened with strong attendance and an optimistic atmosphere among attendees and exhibitors. 4,148 exhibitors from 48 countries are presenting the latest developments in plant and equipment, technology and know-how for the chemical and other process industry sectors. The 145,572 m2 net exhibition space is divided among 9 halls and an open air area. There are twelve thematic exhibition groups and special show on biotechnology. Since the last event in 1997, the number of exhibitors has increased by 12.2 % and the net exhibi-tion area has grown by 3.5 %, beating all previous records.

KSB’s key pump topic at the Achema 2000 is “Life Cycle Cost Reduction”. The features focused on are improved efficiency and increased reliability of the new sealless pumps.
