Xylem Awarded Contract for Beijing Drainage Pumping Project

In recent years, the composition of wastewater has changed considerably, and pumping of untreated raw wastewater has become more and more challenging. Pump hydraulics which were used in the past without any problems and with satisfactory results, are becoming clogged more and more often.

Using canned motor technology for submersible pumps provides significant advantages. A short shaft, only two slide bearings – independent from the immersion depth – and various monitoring functions not only ensure high reliability but also mean cost advantages for the operator. Since it is supplied as a lock pump, easy servicing is guaranteed at the same time.

Government initiatives to reduce emissions are gathering momentum, especially with many countries aiming for net carbon zero by 2030 or 2050. Ebara (Thailand) Limited (ETL), part of EBARA Corporation, received an order from the Bangkok Municipality for a total of four pumps for the Klong Prem Prachakorn Drainage Project.
