Xylem Applied Water Systems Hungary Strengthens Manufacturing Capabilities

Xylem Applied Water Systems has completed a three year renovation programme at its Hungarian manufacturing plant.

The 59,200 square foot site houses a revolutionised production facility and office space for support functions, such as HR, Finance, Administration and Business Control as well as the Customer Service offering for surrounding countries including Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic as well as customers in Europe, USA and Asia.

Purchased in 2009, the manufacturing site was earmarked for investment and a comprehensive improvement schedule was implemented shortly after acquisition, with the intention of creating a lean manufacturing site capable of supporting the expanding eastern European market and taking opportunities into the USA and Asia.

Marco Ferretti, General Manager for Xylem Applied Water Systems Hungary comments on the importance of the effort: “Acquiring the Hungarian facility was imperative for Xylem’s target of strengthening the strategic leadership of the market and the industrial footprint within Europe. The investment has brought high technology equipment and automation to the outdated production line, delivering optimum plant efficiency in the manufacture of circulator pumps for different applications condensate and cooling pumps. The site, which is located in the Cegléd region of Hungary now employs 314 colleagues. This is a clear indication of Xylem’s commitment to meeting the increasing demand for high efficiency pumping systems.”
