Wilo Smart Circulator is Ideal for Underfloor Heating

23.06.2004

The latest version of the Smart circulating pump designed, developed and manufactured by Wilo, has been created specifically for use in both domestic and light commercial underfloor heating systems. The Smart pump is simple to install and offers high levels of reliability and energy efficiency.

With the market for underfloor heating growing more than seven fold during the previous decade, demand has never been higher for this form of heating. As a result, many installers of traditional heating systems are becoming installers of underfloor systems too. Suppliers of these systems are aware of this and tailor their products to 'new installers' by making them simple to lay.

The majority of conventional circulators require a manifold to make them suitable for use with underfloor heating systems, incurring installation cost, time and effort. The Smart removes the need for a manifold, reducing or completely eliminating these costs.

The Smart is fully automatic - once the three simple pre-programmable settings have been set, it will automatically adjust to the required optimum system performance. This is perfect for use with underfloor systems as many are set to self adjust heat output, as they require different pressure levels than those required for standard radiators, and the heat is varied across zones. In addition, the water temperature required is much less than that of water filled radiators to create the same ambient temperature.

As a result of this self adjustment and the lower water temperature, underfloor heating is extremely energy efficient. When coupled with the Smart, an exceptionally energy efficient pump, the results are even greater energy and therefore cost savings.

Smart offers a wide performance range and is capable of operating at a high flow rate of 2.75m/h, at a maximum head of 6 metres. The energy efficient Smart is available at the same price as conventional circulators and is supplied in one standard size - 130mm port to port - making specification quick and simple.
