Wasser Berlin International: Congress 2015 Discusses Water and Sustainable Development

16.01.2015

The new challenges facing the water industry demand innovative, scientific and technical solutions as well as a political and administrative response. Taking as its slogan ’Water and sustainable development’ the Wasser Berlin International Congress 2015 will be setting the tone and providing industry experts with a platform for dialogue and for exchanging experiences on projects and concrete technical solutions.

The focus will be on sustainable and long-term viable concepts for the water industry, water exploration and for environmental policies.

In 2015, for the first time, the Wasser Berlin International Congress will take on the format of an enclosed Hall Forum and will thus be an integral part of trade fair events. No extra charges will be made for the congress.

The congress is clearly structured and focuses on specific topics. On 24 and 27 March 2015 at one session respectively, and on 25 and 26 March 2015 at two sessions respectively, it will be dwelling on current water industry and practical topics at national and international level.

Under the heading of the new format Blue Planet the latest pressing water industry policymaking issues will also be discussed. Under the aegis of the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, of the Foreign Ministry and the Berlin Senate Department of Economics the focus will be on urbanisation, green cities and peace and security with regard to the topic of water. Blue Planet is organised by the German Water Partnership.

In addition to the congress, specialist symposiums dealing with individual topics in greater detail will be taking place in close coordination with trade fair events.

Taking place on 24 and 25 March 2015 (Room Stuttgart, Hall 1.2) the two-day No Dig Berlin Symposium is organised by the German Society for Trenchless Technology (GSTT) and for the first time will be held parallel with the International Symposium on Pipeline Construction (ILBS) next door to the hall featuring pipeline construction displays.

This year the symposium on well construction, a well-established event that is also an approved advanced training measure in accordance with DVGW-W 120, will be taking place on 26 March in the Marshall Haus in the middle of the grounds.

A one-day symposium accompanying events in the new Flood Management Berlin section will be taking place on 25 March 2015 in Hall 6.3 in Room A. This is organised jointly by Wasser Berlin e.V. and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Berlin. Melanie Schultz van Haegen-Maas Geesteranus, the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment, and Barbara Hendricks, the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, will open the event. Attendance for trade visitors is free of charge.

At the International Forum in Hall 5.2a organised by the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA) and the German Water Partnership (GWP) experts will be talking about international markets, explaining the challenges and how German companies and institutions can participate.
