Sulzer Pumps and Vedanta Resources Signed Global Alliance Agreement

26.10.2010

Sulzer Pumps has entered into a long-term agreement with Vedanta, a leading mineral resource company with operations in India, Zambia and Australia for the supply of pumps and after-market services.

The new arrangement will serve Vedanta s copper and zinc sector in India and Zambia with the potential to expand to other areas. Sulzer Pumps operations in South Africa, India, China and Finland will provide new pumps, spare parts and refurbishment of existing pumps, as well as complete life-cycle support by Sulzer Pumps’ global Customer Support Services (CSS) network.

The current agreement builds on a successful customer-supplier relationship starting more than a decade ago, when Sulzer Pumps developed a pumping solution for Vedanta’s phosphoric acid plant in India and in Zambia where Sulzer has been involved in dewatering for the past 50 years. When Vedanta needed a reliable partner to support its latest expansion plans, Sulzer Pumps was the obvious choice to help maximize operational reliability while managing long-term operating costs.

This partnership approach is the ideal platform to apply Sulzer s products and commitment to fulfill the customer s requirements. Vedanta will benefit from increased productivity and improved pump performance while reducing maintenance costs and increased time between maintenance. The agreement includes pre-negotiated technical and product specifications, allowing Sulzer Pumps to better and quicker anticipate and manage orders, workload and costs. This also means more time to focus on design innovation and new product features that will add value to Vedanta.
