months of 2000 was 6 percent above the prior year at CHF 4260 million. Growth adjusted for acquisitions and divestitures was 11%, and 7% after adjustment for currency effects. All divisions contributed to this significant rise, in particular Sulzer Medica with consistently good sales development as well as the high demand for Sulzer Pumps and Sulzer Textil products.

Orders received by Sulzer Industries totalled CHF 3283 million, 4% higher than for the same period of 1999. Growth adjusted for acquisitions and divestitures was 10%, and 7% after adjustment for currency effects. The individual Sulzer Industries business results are as follows:

Sulzer Pumps order intake rose by 36% to CHF 634 million. This includes the newly consolidated Ahlstrom Pumps business, without which growth would still have been very encouraging at 21%. Orders received by the Sulzer Services and Equipment division increased by 13% to CHF 741 million; worth mentioning
in particular is an increased demand for Sulzer Metco products and Sulzer Turbo compressors.
