Submersible motor pump for floating-suction water intake

12.07.2000

Included in the sales range early in June, the multi-stage Ixo RWS is the first submersible motor pump offered by KSB Aktiengesellschaft, Frankenthal, capable of pumping water with a floating suction strainer.

A plastic ball-type buoy ensures that the suction strainer attached to a flexible hose is kept upright just under the water surface. This allows to withdraw clean or turbid water without sediments.

The corrosion-resistant stainless steel pump itself is mounted on the water collection tank or reservoir floor. A polyethylene suction bell protects the pump against dirt, ensures cooling of the 230 V three-phase motor available in three power ratings and gives the pump a stable footing thanks to its broad base. The generously designed pump body and the laterally mounted connection nozzle allow retrofitting of a mains water back-up system, which is actually very common today in rainwater utilization systems.

Designed with a multi-stage hydraulic system, the Ixo RWS is capable of generating pressures up to 6.5 bar so that sprinkling, washing, flushing or irrigation systems can be directly supplied with the required inlet pressure. The maximum flow rate is 4,500 litres per hour. A double-acting mechanical seal fitted between the motor and the pump hydraulics protects the electric components against humidity, thus ensuring a long service life.
