Submersible borehole pumps for Western Siberia
KSB won recently an order for four submersible borehole pumps and all related control systems from a mining company situated in Western Siberia. The worth of the contract is about € 2.2 million.
Installed in a 500 metre deep shaft, the pumps are to keep the groundwater from a disused coalmine from flooding a neighbouring pit which is still being worked. The pump units made entirely of high-grade duplex steel will each pump about 600 cubic metres of aggressive pit water to the surface per hour.
The pumps type UPZ are eight metres long, 750 mm in diameter and weigh 12 metric tons each. Their high-voltage electric motors which are completely filled with drinking water have a drive rating of 1500 kW each and are operated with a supply voltage of 6000 V.
