MUSKEGON, MI - October 5, 2001 - SPX Corporation (NYSE: SPW) today announced that it will release its third quarter 2001 results the morning of Friday, October 19, 2001. John B. Blystone, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer will host a conference call at 9:00 a.m. EDT that same day.

To join the conference call, please dial in 10 minutes prior to the start of the call. Callers will be asked to provide their name and affiliation. The conference call is expected to last 30 – 45 minutes including a question and answer period. The company will have a recording of the conference call available for replay beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, continuing through November 2, 2001.
