Senior Appointments at Weir Pumps

In recent months, The Weir Group has continued to strengthen the management of its Clear Liquid Division, in particular the team at Glasgow based Weir Pumps.

The pump company managing director, Laurie West was appointed divisional managing director of the Clear Liquid Division in July. The division is one of five operational divisions created within The Weir Group at the end of 2001 to provide more customer and product focus on the Group’s specific market areas.

Owen Turner who joined Weir Pumps from Flowserve in February as sales and marketing director has taken over from Laurie as managing director. Owen has almost 30 years experience in the pump sector, 20 of which have been in strategic marketing and general management positions.

Steve Gilbey joined in August to succeed Owen as sales and marketing director. He joins from Flowserve where, latterly, he was Director of Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He has worked for over 25 years with major companies in the pump industry including IDP and Sulzer and has extensive international sales and marketing experience.

Anne-Marie Breewood also joined Weir Pumps in August as finance director designate. Anne-Marie will take over from Jim Montgomery who plans to retire later this year.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Anne-Marie joins from Siemens Network Systems Ltd, where she was financial controller. She has also worked at Mars Electronics International, Wellcomm Group and Exel Logistics.

With his creativity and his instinct for attention-grabbing campaigns, as well as his openness to new communication channels and technologies, he has contributed significantly to the development and success of the brand and the company. Kämpf symbolically passed the well-known U3K pump on as a baton to his successor Gunnar Wippersteg.

BPMA Welcomes its New President

Lee Tebbatt, Managing Director of Wilo UK has been announced as the new President of the British Pump Manufacturers Association (BPMA), following a two-year tenure in the role of Vice President. The position was officially passed on during the BPMA’s Annual General Meeting and follows the two-year term in office by the previous President, Dale Croker, Managing Director of KSB UK.
