Pentair Mobilizes Resources to Support Typhoon Haiyan Relief Efforts
Pentair and The Pentair Foundation are working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including Water Missions International (WMI), Action Against Hunger and the American Red Cross to help provide funds and support for clean water, and other critical needs, to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
"As a global company with the resources, technology and values to make a positive impact, we are mobilizing to help," said Randall J. Hogan, Chairman and CEO, Pentair. "Through our Project Safewater efforts, we have formed long-term relationships with strategic partners to develop emergency clean water systems and hygiene protocols that can be rapidly deployed in times of crisis. We are grateful to be able to utilize our resources and expertise to support those affected by this massive disaster."
Pentair and The Pentair Foundation, together with its partners, have worked to address safe water needs around the globe - reaching more than 500,000 people with sustainable, clean water systems to date. By collaborating with diverse organizations, Pentair has developed innovative, effective and efficient systems to deliver clean, safe water for people in need. For Typhoon Haiyan, Pentair is working with its partners to deploy:
- Living Water Treatment Systems - Designed with WMI, the technology for this system provides emergency water filtration and treatment to people in need. Pentair has contributed $200,000 to ensure the delivery of 20 systems to the Philippines within 48 hours-providing emergency water needs for over 100,000 people. WMI, along with its partner UNICEF, will be distributing the systems to the hardest hit areas.
- Clean Water and Hygiene Kits - Pentair has committed to match all donations up to $50,000 to Action Against Hunger, a global organization and Pentair strategic partner, with a strong presence in the Philippines. The funds raised in this effort will be dedicated to the distribution of emergency clean water and hygiene kits.
"As part of its support for our Clean Water Access Initiative, Pentair has committed funds for immediate disaster relief in the Philippines," said Nan Dale, Chief Executive Officer at Action Against Hunger. "In times of crisis, every minute is critical and we re especially grateful for our partnership with Pentair that allows us to deliver help quickly where it s needed most."
Finally, the Pentair Foundation is matching, dollar for dollar, all donations by Pentair employees to the American Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan disaster program, up to a total of $100,000 for the duration of the fundraising campaign. All funds raised will help the Red Cross with their disaster relief and recovery efforts.
