New Technology to Double Gear Shaft Life

22.12.2004

Maag Pump Systems Textron, a leader in gear pump and filtration systems, is introducing a new heat treatment process that will virtually double the life expectancy of gear shafts used in abrasive applications.

For almost 100 years, Maag has been the world leader in gear technology. Now, the same company that set the standard in gear pump systems has invented a new heat treating process to increase the life of gear shafts used in tough abrasive applications. The new heat treatment process, Tribex®, gives resistance against wear in applications where standard gear shafts have had problems with contaminated or abrasive applications.

“Maag will offer Tribex® gear shafts as standard in extrusion gear pump applications for higher viscosities where higher clearances are needed,” stated Ueli Thürig, vice president and general manager of Maag Pump Systems Textron. “Tribex® was specifically developed to offer a continuous, smooth and even surface of protection. Unlike other heat treatment processes, Maag’s Tribex® doesn’t allow the process material to collect around the teeth or toward the edge of the shaft. This non-gathering of the coating makes for a smooth rotation process and almost doubles the life of the gear shaft in abrasive applications. Nothing has ever been introduced to the marketplace that even comes close to doubling the life expectancy of a gear shaft. We know a lot of Maag customers will now request Tribex® gear shafts for their new equipment or service retrofits.”

Maag’s Tribex® gear shafts are currently available for the extrusion market. Customers can now call their nearest Maag service center for retrofits or stock spare parts. Tribex® is part of the continuing commitment Maag has made to be the world leader in engineering and service for gear pumps and filtration systems.

Chlorine Gas Systems: New Electric Safety Valve Makes the System Safer

13.12.2024 -

Chlorine gas plays a key role in the disinfection of drinking and industrial water. However, handling the chemical can pose considerable health risks – from irritation of the eyes to fatal pulmonary oedema. To further improve occupational safety during use, Lutz-Jesco has developed the VakuStop – a vacuum regulator for dosing systems that is equipped with an emergency stop function to prevent uncontrolled chlorine gas leaks directly at the chlorine gas tank in the event of an emergency.
