New John Crane Seal Now Available For Rebuilds Of Asian OEM Water Pumps

19.11.2001

MORTON GROVE, IL- Global seal maker John Crane has developed a new water pump seal that will fit rebuilt Asian OEM water pumps. The Type 2023MLC seal uses a proven pump seal design adapted for smaller-diameter pump shafts.

The Type 2023MLC is a fully unitized, coated seal featuring a rotating mating ring of sintered steel, flexible elastomer bellows (Buna-N), and a drive sleeve tailored to fit a 12mm shaft and a 30mm bore.

"Although the 2023MLC is a new offering, it is based on a design that has been effectively sealing OEM engine pumps for more than 40 years," said Phil Shefren, marketing manager of automotive products for John Crane. "In North America, we're the industry's largest supplier of water pump seals to the automotive aftermarket, with seals to fit every brand of U.S. vehicle, and now we have a unit for Asian OEM applications.

According to Shefren, the price of the new MLC seal is affordable in relation to competitive products, and the company maintains a large inventory of units in stock at all times for prompt delivery.

The Type 2023MLC seal is manufactured at John Crane's fully automated manufacturing complex in San Fernando, Mexico. This state-of-the-art facility is a highly controlled production environment focusing on quality and efficiency of manufacturing. The San Fernando facility is ISO 9001 and QS 9000 certified.

A member of the Smiths Group plc, John Crane is the world's leading supplier of sealing systems and associated products, including mechanical seals, mechanical packing and sealing support systems as well as power transmission couplings and centralized lubrication systems. With more than 9,000 employees and facilities in 47 countries, the company serves customers in automotive, process and industrial markets.
