New impeller for waste water pumps

27.09.2001

Early in the second half of the year, KSB Aktiengesellschaft Frankenthal launched a new impeller featuring a special geometry to complement the four proven impeller types.

With its free passage of at least 100 mm, the open, diagonal single vane impeller fully meets the requirements of ATV-DWK (German Water Management Association). The impeller ensures reliable non-clogging operation even with variable-speed pump sets running at low speed. The new impeller design offers high efficiency and is particularly suitable for handling industrial and municipal waste water containing long fibres or solid substances. In addition, the impeller can also cope with media containing coarse solids as well as viscous, flowable sludges.

The new product used in Amarex KRT submersible motor pumps is an open, single vane impeller with continuously adjustable wear plate. Thanks to the wear plate feature, efficiency levels can be maintained over a long period even when abrasive media are handled. The hydraulic system input power is in line with the so-called non-overloading characteristics. The motor will not be overloaded if the pump operates against back pressure. The new impeller is used for pump sets with a motor rating of 50 to 60 kW.
