Negotiations Between Sulzer and Weir Discontinued

05.04.2007

On February 16, 2007, Sulzer announced its interest in the acquisition of selected pump lines of The Weir Group PLC, Glasgow, Scotland. Negotiations will not be continued, as no agreement was reached concerning intellectual property rights.

Sulzer is strongly committed to a strict acquisition discipline, especially concerning financial targets. An acquisition of Weir pumps lines without the transfer of intellectual property rights does not justify the purchase price in consideration. Therefore, Sulzer decided to not further pursue the transaction.

The related Weir business unit develops and manufactures its pump lines and associated spare parts in Scotland. The main segments served are oil and gas as well as power generation. Sulzer Pumps intended to broaden its product portfolio with these pump lines.
