MWH Treatment and its joint venture partner Costain will continue their work to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water and wastewater treatment facilities over the next five years, from 2020.

The joint venture, CMDP, has been selected by Southern Water to extend its AMP6 contract as part of the water company’s AMP7 investment programme.

Together, MWH Treatment and Costain will use their full range of expertise to continue to design and build innovative and cost-effective solutions, as part of Southern Water’s multi-billion pound 2020-2025 business plan.

Paul Bresnan, Managing Director, MWH Treatment, said: “We’re delighted to be able to continue our partnership with Southern Water into AMP7. Along with Costain, we look forward to supporting Southern Water in meeting its targets around water supply, wastewater treatment and environmental protection, while delivering excellent customer service, and having a positive impact on the communities we serve.”

Neil Colman, director of engineering and construction, Southern Water, said: “We are delighted to continue our close relationship with Costain and MWH Treatment to deliver our hugely ambitious plans for the next AMP. We fully expect the delivery of our PR19 programme to be challenging and require large efficiency gains. Only with partners as committed as we are to delivering smart solutions can we be sure of securing a resilient water future for the South East."

Pending final determination of Southern Water’s business plan, this initial contract is worth approximately £325 million to the joint venture in an equal share over the five-year period.
