Million Deutschmark order for drinking water pipeline

16.08.2001

In mid-2001, Frankenthal-based KSB Fluid Systems GmbH received a DM 50 million order for the supply of a pumping station and the complete electro-mechanical equipment for a new pipeline of about 140 km in Saudi Arabia.

Four three-stage pumps with a drive rating of 2750 kW each will be pumping about 180,000 m³ of desalinated seawater per day from Al Khobar to Al Hofuf to one of largest oases. The pipeline layout through a hilly region required a number of drainage and venting facilities. The scope of supply also includes the control and monitoring system for the entire pipeline.

The total order, placed by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation with an Arab contractor, is worth more than DM 200 million. The systems supplier was awarded the contract because the company can deliver within extremely tight deadlines and has profound experience in handling similar projects.
