Management Change at the Plant Engineering Group (Coperion)

04.07.2002

Having seen through the successful integration of the Werner & Pfleiderer, Waeschle and Buss company groups under the umbrella of Coperion, Dr. Hans-Jörg Pfeiffer, President of the Executive Board of Coperion Holding GmbH, Konstanz (Germany) and Head of the Georg Fischer Corporation's Plant Engineering Group, will retire at the end of August on reaching the age of 64. Hans-Jörg Pfeiffer has declared his willingness to put his industrial experience at the disposal of Coperion and Georg Fischer as an external consultant.

After the untimely death of Manfred Wolf, the other member of the Coperion Executive Board, the shareholders have appointed Dr. Josef Spichtig to act as President of the Executive Board of Coperion Holding GmbH. John Blydenstein was appointed as an additional Member of the Executive Board.

Josef Spichtig has been Managing Director of Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer Co. KG, Stuttgart, since April 1. He will remain in this function until further notice. Josef Spichtig, born in 1944, is a scientist with extensive training in business and many years of management experience in the industry. John Blydenstein, born in 1966, with a Mechanical Engineering and MBA background, is Managing Director of West Private Equity. As a member of the Coperion management team, John Blydenstein is responsible primarily for value-adding projects.

By virtue of his long and successful career, Josef Spichtig is eminently qualified to assure continuity at the top level of management at Coperion and to build on Coperion's international leadership.

Displaying great entrepreneurial dynamism, Hans-Jörg Pfeiffer was the driving force behind the creation of the world's leading supplier of plants and compounding systems for the plastics industry. With great personal commitment he guided the newly created Coperion Group through the difficult integration phase and in the process laid the foundations for adding further value in the future.
