Major Pump Contract for Platform Supply Vessels

23.09.2003

Carver Pump has received a contract for 150 centrifugal pumps from Bender Shipbuilding and Repair Company, Inc. of Mobile, Alabama.

The pumps are for ten state-of-the-art platform supply vessels that will serve the Gulf of Mexico deep gas shelf market and deepwater production market.

The vessels will be diesel-electric driven, with diesel engine powered electric generators driving electric motors connected to the propulsion drives. This environmentally friendly technology uses less fuel than conventional propulsion systems and produces far less air pollution. The first vessel in the project is due to be delivered by March 2004. After that, Bender will be completing one vessel every 60 days, with the last one delivered by August 2005.
