Luciano Respini Proposed as New Member of the Board of Directors

Dr. Luciano Respini, president of Dow Europe, which is headquartered in Horgen (Switzerland), will be proposed as new member of the Sulzer Board of Directors at the annual general meeting on April 29, 2004. He shall reinforce the board with his extensive international experience.

Fred Kindle, delegate of the board and CEO of Sulzer Ltd, will resign from the board of directors as of the annual general meeting on April 29, 2004. In order to strengthen the board, it has been proposed that Dr. Luciano Respini be elected at the annual general meeting. Mr. Respini, 57 years old and an Italian citizen, has had a long, international career at Dow. He is a member of the executive management team of this global chemical corporation and president of Dow Europe, based in Horgen (Canton Zurich).
