Life Cycle Cost in focus in new “ABS Partners”
The new issue of the ABS Partners magazine focuses on cost-effective pumping
and LCC. Among the contents is a pre-view of the Enersave guideline “A Guide
to Life Cycle Cost Analysis for Pumping Systems”, with the new international
LCC standards.
The just published edition of ABS Partners contains a lot of useful
information on cost-effective solutions. Examples are shown from all parts
of the world, from a major project in Turkey of a pre-water treatment plant
and sea outfall construction for 1.3 million people, to a waste management
and drainage solution for a new high-speed rail network in Germany. Further
highlights are a dry dock application in New Orleans U.S.A. where ABS pumps
reduce the operating time by 50%, and a pump solution bringing high process
reliability for a paper mill in South Africa.
New International LCC Guidelines
A low Life Cycle Cost is fundamental for cost-effective pumping, and ABS has
a long-term commitment in offering customers a better LCC. ABS has been
heavily involved in Enersave, the common project of the pump manufacturer
assocations Europump and the U.S. Hydraulic Institute. The extensive project
has been on-going since 1997 with the aim to issue international standards
on LCC, with definitions, calculation norms and guide-lines for possible
savings.
The latest issue of ABS Partners presents a pre-view of the Executive
Summary of the official Enersave guideline “A Guide to Life Cycle Cost
Analysis for Pumping Systems”. The full guideline will be available in
January, but can already now be ordered from www.europump.org or
www.pumps.org.
“ABS can proudly promote the Enersave publication” says Kjell Alfredsson,
ABS’ Technical Director and the secretary of the Enersave project. “We fully
support the message, as it is well in line with our long since focus on
cost-effective pumping”.
