KSB: New 4-inch Pump for Deep Well Applications

02.01.2001

December 2000, KSB Aktiengesellschaft, Germany, launched a submersible motor pump series developed for use in water supply and irrigation systems. All five sizes of the S100B series are of a very robust design and capable of handling water with a solids content of 50 grams per cubic metre.

The stage casings are made of stainless steel, the impellers and diffusers of fibre-reinforced plastics to withstand the partly aggressive mineral and well water. In applications involving high flow rates and low back pressures, the axial thrust of the rotor is absorbed by specially designed plain bearings. thus avoiding a potential contact between casing and impeller. This new pump features a maximum discharge head of 300 metres and a maximum flow rate of 16,000 litres per hour. When the pump is stopped, an integrated non-return valve prevents the discharge pipe from running empty and ensures that the pump is not damaged as a result of reverse rotation.

The canned motors are available in single-phase AC (1 - 2.2 kW) and three-phase (3 - 5 kW) design. Thanks to the fine-tuned range of motor sizes, the user can choose the optimum drive rating to match any application.
