KSB Extends India Foundry

KSB Group has expanded the steel foundry capacities at its Indian site of Vambori over the past months. Two new natural gas-fired furnaces contribute to increasing the steel castings output from 300 tons to 1200 tons per year.

The foundry specialises in steels and stainless steels difficult to cast, for example, duplex and chrome steels, or ASTM grades such as CF8M, CF3M or CN7M.

Planning of the new foundry focussed on ecological requirements to ensure environmentally friendly production. The plant is equipped with a flue gas collector and dust extraction systems to control air pollution. In addition, water pollution is avoided by a water treatment plant. Up to 80 percent of the sand used for moulds and cores is reclaimed.

A total of three ovens are available at the foundry: one for the drying of moulds, one for drying cores and another for scrap metal heating. The demand for high-quality steel castings within globally operating KSB Group is continuously rising. As there is only a limited number of suppliers able to meet international quality requirements, KSB decided to extend its own capacities.
