James D. Fowler, Jr. Named Senior Vice President and Director, Human Resources at ITT Industries

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- ITT Industries, Inc.
(NYSE: ITT) today announced the appointment of James D. Fowler, Jr. to the position of Senior Vice President and Director, Human Resources for the corporation. In this role, reporting to Chairman and Chief Executive Travis Engen, Fowler will be responsible for global leadership and coordination of human resources policy and initiatives, and will serve on the company's Executive Council.

Fowler worked for ITT Industries and its predecessor company, ITT Corporation, for 20 years prior to 1996, when he left the company to form his own human resources consulting group. In 1986, Fowler was a founding member of the Executive Leadership Council in Washington, DC. Since 1997, he has served as Executive Director, and subsequently President, of the organization and its related Foundation.

During his 20 years at ITT, Fowler held positions of increasing responsibility at ITT Consumer Financial Corporation in Minneapolis, eventually being named to Executive Vice President and Director of Administration. From 1993 to 1996, he was Director of Government Relations in the corporation's Washington office. Prior to joining ITT, Fowler worked as a consultant with D.P. Parker & Associates and with the Xerox Corporation.
Fowler is a US Army veteran. He holds a BS degree from United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, and an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Board of Directors of ITT Educational Services, Inc. and Washington's Duke Ellington School of the Arts, a Director of the Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, and a member of the Advisory Board and the Corporate Guild of the Folger Shakespeare Library.
