Dresden, Germany, 2002-08-14 – The headquarter of VSX – VOGEL SOFTWARE, a leading provider of software and Internet solutions for the pump industry, is closed today because the flood disaster in Dresden.

The flooding in Saxony is one of the most terrible disasters that the region has ever seen. At least six people have died in the floods. For today Dresden expects an increasing water level caused by a new wave coming from Czech Republic.

The facilities of VSX are located very closed to the river Elbe. Up to now the building was kept undamaged. Because security risks, problems in power supply and the critical traffic situation it is currently impossible to continue the normal operating. Presently it is not known, as far the delivery dates of VSX will be influenced by the catastrophe.

Yesterday all Internet services broke down temporarily. This interruption included also the e-mail services and impeller.net, the online pump magazine with the global PumpSelector. Thanks the engagement of VSX’ internet technology partner DSI and with help of the emergency workers the servers could be moved from the flooded Altstadt area to an alternative location. In the noon the servers could be reconnected and the services became available again.
