This year, in fact, will witness the ninth edition of a trade fair with a rich tradition. Pumps & Valves is a bi-annual event that on each occasion offers a representation of what is new in the sector.

In order to accommodate itself to the growing attention that the market is devoting to evolutions and changing accents, the exhibition program of Pumps & Valves 2002 is being expanded. Without any doubt, this trade fair is the platform where all PRODUCTS and BRAND NAMES sold, distributed, and serviced in Belgium are represented. After purchase, the LIFE CYCLE of these products is a QUALITY norm that is dependent on their MAINTENANCE. Maintenance entails the entirety of activities considered necessary to keep production installations in a condition or to bring them up to a level so as to achieve their correct and efficient operation. Because of increasing costs and quality demands, this is a subject to which currently much attention is being devoted. In this edition of the fair, the organisers introduce a philosophy that is finding an ever broader application. The static approach of the past is evolving more and more into a dynamic direction. In this, the objective is to realise the desired reliability and safety at the lowest possible cost.

Effective maintenance is possible only through the contributions from well-trained people. The collaborator in charge has in the past few years seen an enormous expansion of his functions. He is a team manager who is responsible for far more than mere maintenance. Obviously, he needs to possess good people skills in a broad sense but, aside from that, he must be knowledgeable and keep abreast of technical evolutions, new STANDARDISATION, upgraded software, planning, concepts and analyses, safety and environment, communication, … The expanding range of job responsibilities assigned to the maintenance manager is made possible by a combination of improved information, techniques, and methodology. The word that is key to the process is TRAINING.

While to all appearances the design of the fair has little changed, it still remains the intention to organise a NICHE fair, that familiar designation nevertheless admits of a much wider interpretation.

impeller.net will inform the pump community about news and highlights of the show. Besides the direct coverage from the show you will find announcements of the organizes and the exhibitors in preparation of the show, product news that will be introduced at the show, company news of the exhibitors, opening and final report of the show at the internet pump magazine.

Come and meet the people behind impeller.net at the booth of VSX – VOGEL SOFTWARE. See you in Antwerp!
