IFAT Eurasia 2017 with Top Supporting Program
The next IFAT Eurasia will be held at the Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) from February 16 to 18, 2017. Alongside the trade fair, visitors can look forward to a technically demanding conference and supporting program that caters to the needs of the Eurasian environment market. Among the highlights are the Turkey country special on the first day of the trade fair. Discussions will include how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be implemented in Turkey.
As with the initial event in 2015, the conference and supporting program will be an integral part of IFAT Eurasia 2017. During the entire trade fair, experts from industry and research will share their knowledge on water, wastewater, waste and recycling management in conference presentations, discussion groups and seminars. Things will get underway with the Turkey country special on February 16. Under the heading “Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Local Environmental Strategies”, experts from international industry associations and organizations will discuss what a sustainable, environmentally friendly development strategy for Turkey might look like. The panel discussion will be hosted by Johannes Lohaus, Managing Director of the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA).
The Republic Of Turkey Ministry Of Environment And Urbanization will also be there with several sessions and deal, among other things, with the topics of “Zero Waste Approach in Industry”, “Fermented Product Management with Mechanical Separation”, “Biodrying and Biomethanization Facilities” and “Urban-Industrial Wastewater Treatment and Recycling Practices”.
Sustainable wastewater management
On the second day of the event, two topic areas will focus on the water sector: The “Design and Operation of Sewage Systems” session held by the German Water Partnership (GWP) will deal with how all types of wastewater systems are repaired and put into operation. The speakers include representatives from Binder, Festo, Microdyn-Nadir, PWT Wasser- und Abwassertechnik, Sülzle Klein and WE-Consult.
How can sludge be put to good use? What potential does co-digestion have in this regard? And how can the energy requirements of sewage treatment plants be optimized? The DWA will address these questions in its series of presentations on “Challenges and Solutions for Sustainable Wastewater Treatment”.
Recovering energy from waste
Solutions for modern, sustainable waste management will be on the program on February 18. The highlights include the “Agricultural Waste & Biogas Panel” held by the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and KAKAD, its representative office in Turkey. It will not only focus on the thermal utilization of waste and the use of biogas, but also present current energy projects in Turkey.
Promoting young talent
The DWA University Challenge will also be held for the first time at IFAT Eurasia under the auspices of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The aim of this event is to promote young talent in the environmental technology sector. Teams of students from various Turkish universities will put their knowledge and talent to the test. The winners of the competition can look forward to a ticket to IFAT 2018 in Munich, the parent trade fair of IFAT Eurasia and the leading industry event worldwide.
